Join Miami MoCAAD on October 22, 6-7:30 PM for a #CreativeConversation, featuring Peter London, founder of Peter London Global Dance Company and Dale Jennings, II, Miami native and former collegiate choreographer and dancer while at Swarthmore College. This conversation will cover Mr. London’s journey to becoming a dancer, choreographer and founder of his dance company and will reveal creative processes behind PLGDC’s December 2020, world premiere of “WOMEN-ROSES-WATER”, an Afro-Caribbean dance fusion. Included is “Roses”, an adaptation of Marilyn Holifield’s chapter in a collective memoir centered at Swarthmore College, Seven Sisters and a Brother: Friendship, Resistance and Untold Truths About Black Student Activism in the 1960s.
Peter London exemplifies change that is possible when social consciousness marries passionate creativity. This Conversation will explore art’s connection to activism and community building; the importance of self-expression and the wonder of creativity. It will illuminate how living his personal dreams and telling nearly forgotten stories behind social change empower Mr. London to bring beauty, joy, youthful activism and courage center stage through dance.
