Palm Beach Tech Hackathon | ‘Code for Good’

WHAT

The Palm Beach Tech Hackathon is a virtual 24 hour event where participants form teams, vet ideas, create a project, and then present their work to an expert panel of judges. Winners walk away with a combination of cash and in-kind prizes!

• First Place: $2500
• Second Place: $1500
• Third Place: $1000

WHEN

• Kickoff & Team Forming | Friday, October 23rd (5:30 – 8:30 PM)

• Hacking Begins | Saturday, October 24th (8:00 AM – 6:00 PM)

• Judging & Presentations | Sunday, October 25th (8:00 AM – 1:30 PM)

WHERE

Due to COVID-19, this year’s Hackathon will be held completely virtual. We will be using the Remo platform for the main event and additional platforms such as Slack and Zoom for additional communication.

WHY

Our theme this year is “Coding For Good” with each project supporting a local South Florida nonprofit. We hope to bring technology and community service together to make an impact for a better world.

WHO

Teams will consist of developers, designers, project managers and entrepreneurs, with successful teams having a mix of these areas of expertise. From newly graduated tech students to senior tech leadership – everyone in invited!

HOW

• Register as an attendee – You can register as a team or as an individual. Teams can be made up of up to 6 people (minimum of 2ppl). The most successful teams are made up of a mix of developers, designers, project managers, and entrepreneurs, but you can have whatever mix you like. If you are an individual without a team, you will be added to the Hackathon Slack group in which you can recruit/request to join teams.
• Create Your Solution – Friday will be the Kickoff and Saturday the hacking officially begins at 8:00 AM. There will be local nonprofits that each team can create one project/solution for. The provided platform will close at 6:00 PM, but teams can communicate via their own forms of communication at any time throughout the night.
• Project Submissions – Projects must be submitted by 9:00 AM on Sunday. All team members should be logged in and ready to present slides, video, etc. to judges by 10:00 AM. Family and friends are invited to view presentations and give their favorite hackers support by joining us with a separate ticket link.
• Winners Announced! – The judges will choose the winners with 1st, 2nd and 3rd places and announced around 1:00 PM. Winners will received both cash and in-kind prizes!
